Denton Lotz, general secretary of the Baptist World Alliance, will be the keynote speaker at the 1998 N.C. Baptist Men's Convention and Missions Conference on Jan. 30-31 at Forest Hills Church in Raleigh. The weekend meeting will begin at 5 p.m. Jan. 30 with a supper at the church for anyone interested in volunteer mission opportunities in South Africa and Ukraine, the two convention-sponsored mission partnership programs. Lotz will bring the opening message at 7:15 p.m.

The Jan. 31 sessions will begin with messages by Terry Rae, executive director, South Africa Baptist Union and Taylor Field, director of Graffiti Ministry in New York City. Three mission action conferences will be held that morning and afternoon. A box lunch will be served at the church by the Disaster Relief Unit.

Bart Campolo, president Kingdomworks Ministry in Philadelphia, Pa., will be the main speaker for the afternoon general session at 3 p.m.

Kyle Matthews, storyteller and musician from Nashville, Tenn., and Doug Berky, dramatist and mime from Greenville, S.C. will be featured during each of the worship sessions.

The conference will close Jan. 31 with a 5 p.m. supper for disaster relief volunteers, led by Jim Royston, executive director-treasurer of Baptist State Convention.

The meeting is open to all Baptist men and women, not just to members of church Brotherhood organizations. There is no registration fee, but offerings will be received the night of Jan. 30 and the afternoon of Jan. 31 to help offset the program expenses.
